About us

The Graduate Business School wasn’t just formed but it has evolved through natural process as an organisation underpinning best of two distinct worlds; theoretical and practical. The days of the Lecture Theatres, Halls of Residence, Binge drinking through the nights and the rest of the goodies have been marked for extinction by our political philanthropists ever since education became a burden to the States. Education Ministers throughout the world have dabbled with various alternatives to replace the traditional methods but none have found a perfect solution. Japan and Germany have been advocating the integration of vocational concept into theoretical learning from the outset but the rest of the world has been extremely slow to adopt the model.

Even before the expansion of the use of Computers began to grow exponentially, vocational qualifications were recognised and actively encouraged by the States. Minimum requirements of any decent jobs have changed progressively from G.C.E ‘O’ levels, G.C.S.E, G.C.E. ’A’ levels to at least Bachelor degrees. This has inevitably created a shortage of graduates to meet the market demand. Compounded with this problem was the fact that the newly graduated candidates lacked the necessary skills to meet the requirement of the work place. Skills gained through experience were observed as critically important to the employer than a degree gained at a university. Consequently, all Technical Colleges were encouraged to promote Vocational type of training and certification but the traditional universities and academics had attempted to undermine the change and frowned upon the qualifications such as National Diplomas and very slow to recognise such qualifications.

Government intervention and concerted effort by trade organisations such as Confederation of British Industry (CBI) had succeeded in establishing a sound footing for the National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ). Nonetheless, the traditional universities have failed to make any significant change to the system. This is where the Graduate Business School is scoring points. The Vocational Skills Accreditation Faculty of the university (VSAF) is dedicated to evaluate, validate and certify the skills of candidates gained through work experience in any fields. The faculty is formed of several experts and captains of the industries and academics with extensive qualifications. The evaluation process entails several methods; viva voce, work demonstration, written submission, testimonies etc.. From the evaluation, the candidates may receive the certification or recommended to follow courses to fill the inadequate areas.

The qualified personnel from the university will satisfy both theoretical and practical requirements of today’s and tomorrows industries.

The Graduate Business School (GBS) is an innovative educational organization established to serve those with three A's - Aptitude, Attitude and Aspiration. The objective of the GBS is to build capacity and support economic development by leveraging the power of modern telecommunications technology to provide world-class quality education and training programs to students and professionals. With the three A's

Rationale for the GBS

European Community has expanded to represent 25 countries and there are many more waiting at the wings to get in. The total population is going to been excess of 200 million, About 40% of the population needs as a matter of urgency, learning, unlearning of their knowledge and skills. Of these only a fraction of a percentage will have the opportunity to adapt to the traditionally regimental type of university environment which does not always meet the demand of the individuals and the industries. This pressing requirement has created the vacuum for a suitable system. Graduate Business School has evolved from The London School of Computing, a tertiary College formed in 1982 with the sole purpose of teaching computer programming. During the course of its progress other application packages were added to the course list and later on other courses such as Management, English Language, Marketing , computer Engineering, Communication Technology etc.

In 1998 the LSC had spread its wings nationwide from London to entire UK by offering courses by open learning method whereby students used their spare time to study and to get qualification. This type of studies needed no class room attendance. However there are courses that needed hands on practical workshop. This was arranged with the college lab on a regular basis. Queries were answered by emails and telephone which was manned between 9.00 am to 9.00pm 6 days a week. Culmination from the success is the Birth if Graduate Business School. The significant variation is the telephone support will be manned 24 hours 7 days per week by lecturers. This is to cater for the time-zone difference among various countries. Each student will be assigned a tutor, usually a Materials will be available on the website accessible with minimum of fuss. Workshops will be arranged with affiliated colleges or universities that would act as local campuses.
